Forgive and Forget

It’s hard to forgive.
Even harder to forget.
Why can’t I do it?
God forgave me, a dirty sinner.
If He could forgive a person like me, why can’t I forgive people?
I make it difficult, that’s why.
I hang on to the past.
I dwell on what used to be.
I need to let go of it.
Let God handle it.
I need to forgive.
I need to forget.
But, I just can’t make myself do it.
I just can’t look forward to a better future.
I’m stuck in the p-a-s-t….
….When it’s just as easy to spell f-u-t-u-r-e.
I call myself a Christian, though.
And, Christians forgive, right?
Do they really, though?
Or, are they going through the motions kinda like I am?
That’s it!
I’m going through the motions.
That’s why I can’t forgive.
That’s why I can’t forget.
Maybe if I suck it up and just surrender it all to God, then I can actually be a follower of Christ.
I should stop being a hypocrite.
I need to just give it all up.
I need to just wake up!
Just a thought for myself, here.
If I start to forgive and forget, then maybe, just maybe….
….I can keep my focus on God.
Such a simple, yet complicated concept.
Forgive.
Forget.
Trust God.

  1. Forgiveness will set you free to do the next good things God has for you to do. Forgiveness is not always easy, but it is necessary for you to be able to receive God's very best for your life, Jewell. Often, when we don't forgive others, we wallow in our own misery while the person we aren't forgiving goes on and leads their life without giving us a second thought. An unforgiving heart often leads to a hardened heart, and a hardened heart just leads us into all kinds of trouble. You can forgive, Jewell!! Not on your own, but only through God's power and strength and your reliance on God. I am praying for you this week, sweet girl.

  2. When things are painful it is hard to forgive. Forgiveness is not a finger snap. Its a process. A process that only you and God can go through. No one can teach you to forgive. You learn to forgive. And no one, not even God can make you. Its your choice. How free do you want to be?

  3. I love this! It's like a kaleidoscope of thoughts that point to one main idea. The thoughts are what makes it good. They're real and honest and displayed well. :)
